TRICHODISCOMAS
The trichodiscoma is a benign adnexal tumor related to the hair follicle.
- Fibrofolliculomas, trichodiscomas, and acrocordons may be associated (see the Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome.
- Some think trichodiscomas and fibrofolliculomas are variants of the same neoplasm.
- Clinically, the trichodiscomas are supposedly whiter than the flesh-colored fibrofolliculomas.
Clinical
Hundreds of uniform whitish, dome-shaped, 2-3 mm papules of the face are characteristic of trichodiscomas, a hamartoma of the hair disc (haarscheibe). Autosomal dominant inheritance may occur.
Treatment
No treatment is needed.
