TINEA PEDIS
Tinea Pedis (TP) is a fungal infection of the feet by a dermatophyte.
- It may affect just the web spaces, spread to the soles or cover the entire sole of the foot in a "moccasin" distribution.
- Tinea pedis may be a source for infection of the nails, groin or body.
- Look for infection of the nails as well.
Treatment
Over the counter terbinafine (e.g. Lamisil) twice a day for 10 days is highly effective. Miconazole or clotrimazole are alternatives. A handout is available providing information on how to prevent reinfection.
