TINEA NIGRA

Tinea Nigra (TN) is a specific fungal infection by Phaeoannellomyces werneckii that causes a brown patch on the skin.

Clinical

This infection appears as a brown patch--thus the term. When the infection occurs on the palm, the term tinea nigra palmaris is used. Scraping with KOH shows hyphae.

Treatment

A topical antifungal agent is sufficient.
