SMOKER'S FACE

A Smoker's Face (SF) is characterized by abundant wrinkles and a yellow hue.

Clinical

Deep furrows on the cheeks and jaw and wrinkles radiating out from the lips and eyes are characteristic. Patients who have smoked for more than 50 pack-years are almost 5 times as likely to be wrinkled as nonsmokers. Smokers are also more likely to have gray hair. A histologic study showed increased elastosis in patients who smoked compared to those who did not.

Treatment

Stop smoking! See also wrinkles.
