PERIORBITAL XANTHOGRANULOMAS
Ortibal Xanthogranulomas (OX) is the rare occurrence of xanthogranulomas about the eyes in an adult.
- It falls under the non-Langerhans histocytic disorders.
- it has also been termed multiple periortibal fibrous histiocytomas (MPFH).
- Complete history and clinical examination, biopsy and laboratory work is necessary to rule out necrobitoic xanthogranuloma, Erdheim-Chester disease and adult onset asthma with periocular xanthogranuloma.
Clinical
Multiple, firm, non-tender, yellowish-to-red nodules about the eyes of an adult are characteristic of this rare disorder. Histopathology shows a xanthogranuloma.
Treatment
Surgical excision may be performed.
