NASAL GLIOMA

Nasal glial heterotopia, also known as nasal glioma (NG), is a collection of normal glial tissue present at birth. It falls under the category of heterotropic brain tissue.

Clinical

An asymptomatic congenital nodule is present either just lateral to the nasal root or protruding from the nasal cavity. A dermoid cyst is in the differential.

Treatment

Referral to a pediatric surgical specialist is in order. A full work up with preoperative imaging is necessary prior to any biopsy or other surgical intervention.
