INFANTILE ACROPUSTULOSIS
Infantile acropustulosis (IA) is a pustular condition of infants in which recurrent crops of pruritic pustules occur on the palms and soles
- The patient is usually a child 2 months to 10 years of age.
- Bacterial culture to rule out infection and a mineral oil preparation to rule out scabies should be done.
- This is a diagnosis of exclusion.
Treatment
A potent topical steroid applied BID or occluded QHS for several days during flares may be recommended. Dapsone has cleared the lesions, but usually this sort of aggressive therapy is not needed. The condition usually remits within a year.
