Hemosiderin Deposition (HD) is the deposition of iron in the skin from leakage of blood.
Clinical
Leakage of blood in the skin of the lower legs can lead to significant hemosiderin deposition. A brownish discoloration ensues. This often occurs in older individuals in the setting of venous insufficiency with or without stasis dermatitis. But is may occur in younger individuals, especially those who are overweight or whose legs swell or who have injured their leg(s).
