FIBROUS PAPULE (OF THE NOSE)
The fibrous papule of the nose (FPN) is a relatively common, small, benign papule on the nose of an adult. It may look red or vascular with fine telangiectasias on the surface.
- It is also known as an angiofibroma. Multiple angiofibromas may be seen in tuberous sclerosis.
- The FPN typically appear in late adolescence or early adulthood, though it can occur at any age, and is most commonly found in middle-aged adults.
Clinical
This benign condition is commonly mistaken for a small nevus. Typically, a small, 2-4 mm flesh-colored or red, solitary papule occurs on or about the nose.
Treatment
No treatment is needed. A shave biopsy for cosmesis may be done.
