BLUE NEVUS

The blue nevus (BN) is a common, melanocytic proliferation in the dermis. The deeper location is the reason for the typical blue color (Tyndall effect).

Clinical

A blue papule 2-6 mm in diameter on the scalp, face, dorsa of the hands or feet, or on the buttocks is characteristic. It may be present from birth or acquired later in life.

Carney Complex

Carney Complex (CC), aka LAMB syndrome, is a syndrome complex characterized by multiple pigmented macules (lentigines and blue nevi) occur in association with myxomas (of the skin, breasts, and heart), functioning endocrine tumors (e.g., bilateral primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical hyperplasia, growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenomas), psammomatous melanotic schwannoma, and testicular tumors.
