ACNE NECROTICA
Acne necrotica is a pustular eruption of the scalp in older patients, usually men. Some consider this a variant of rosacea.
- The vast majority of patients are men.
- Typical age is 22-49.
Clinical
Scattered pustules that rapidly break or are excoriated form crusts in the scalp. 80%$ occur in the occiput. Patients often complain of significant itch. Some patients may have typical pimples on the face as well, ala rosacea. Cultures are usually sterile or show Staphylococcus epidermidis, or propionibactium. Occasionally, Staph aureus is found.
