SYRINGOMAS OF THE GROIN

Multiple syringomas may occur on the vulva.
- In one study of 18 cases [JAAD 2003;48;735], the age of presentation of ranged from 21 to 60 years with a median age of 29.5 years.
- 13/18 (72%) had vulvar pruritus and 7/18 (39%) noticed aggravation during summer or during menstruation.
- Approximately one third had coexisting eyelid syringomas.
Multiple flesh-colored or brownish papules on both sides of the vulva is most characteristic. Some may have a whitish or a yellowish color. There can be significant pruritus.
Carbon dioxide laser has been reported as an effective therapy when the pruritus is significant [JAAD 2003;48;735].
