Linea nigra is a term that describes a pigmented stripe that runs vertically along the midline of a pregnant woman's abdomen from the xiphoid process to the symphysis pubis. The maternal hormones of pregnancy lead to the hyperpigmentation.
No treatment is needed. It may fade after delivery.
