ANGIOLEIOMYOMA

This benign adnexal tumor is composed of smooth muscle tissue and numerous veins. It is usually encapsulated. For other types of leiomyoma, see leiomyoma variants.

Clinical

These lesions are usually nodules that are either intradermal or subcutaneous. The legs are the most common site. Pain is typical. Women are twice as commonly affected as men.

Treatment

Surgical excision may be done.
